Fashion Show Benefits Pets

They modeled the latest fashions on two and four feet.

Almost 300 people packed into the Matterhorn Restaurant in Elkhart for the Furry Friends Fashion Fair Thursday afternoon.

The luncheon featured models showing off the latest fall fashions and many of their dogs dressed up for the occasion, too.

There were hundreds of items up for auction.

It’s an annual fundraiser for the Elkhart County Humane Society and so many of the models had stories of adopting their best friend from the shelter.

Bernice Simms from the Elkhart County Humane Society says, “It’s just people giving back to their community, the homeless animals and every animal that’s been brought into the shelter just trying to get some money to care for them so we can keep them longer and get more adopted out.”

Traci Capellman was privileged to help co-host the event along with Danny Reynolds from Stephensons who provided all the models’ clothes.

The event has grown from 150 guests the first year to almost 300 today.
